Having completed a CELTA certificate before leaving on my travels, I decided to start looking for a job teaching English. It didn’t take long and within weeks I was heading to Taiwan after a brief stop in London, with no idea of what to expect. After 16 hours up in the air I have finally made it to Taiwan! After the chaos of Vietnam I decided to spend the next part of my Career Break Island hoping around Thailand. The flight to Bangkok was good and was over in a flash. Strangely enough I bumped into a guy called Dave who I had met in HCMC weeks and weeks ago. Ho Chi Minh City So I hit Saigon (HCMC) with a bang and walked into the chaos of Vietnam. I had to collect my visa at the airport, which I thought was going to be straightforward but turned out to be organised chaos. It was a fight through a crowd of people to a glass window, where I handed over my passport and then waited 2 hours for it to be returned with my 3 month Vietnam visa. On the plus side [ more...]

Kuala Lumpur was the fast and expensive city you would expect for the capital and really a recovery after the 2 day bus journey. I shared a hotel room with Chief right in the heart of Chinatown – where we were expecting to see massive celebrations for the Chinese New Year but not a lot happened.
