Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), also known as Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) is a great way to earn money while you travel on your career break or sabbatical.  Below is a short video shot in Vietnam of Liz talking about her teaching experience.

 

 

If you’re interested in teaching English as a second language, one of the best courses you can take is a CELTA.  A CELTA is a four week intensive introductory course for people who have very little or no experience in teaching English as a second language.  The course not only teachers you the basics, but also equips you with some great tools and techniques.  The CELTA is internationality recognised, highly regarded around the world and has been accredited as level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework You can find a couple of highly recognised CELTA course providers at the bottom of this article.

British Council

The British Council was created to build relations, trust and opportunities between the UK and the rest of the world.  They see teaching English as an important part of their work, along with the Arts, international education opportunities and knowledge sharing.  They also have numerous English Language schools around the world.

International House  have been providing courses for over 50 years and are highly respected around the world.  Not only do they provide CELTA courses but they have numerous language schools around the world, which makes getting a job in a respected school a lot easier.
